Q1) Tell me what kinds of cafes are there? Where are they usually located? What is the most popular item people order?

[Ans] Cafes are everywhere in Korea. There are 2 types of cafes. One is franchise cafes like Starbucks, The other is local cafes. And local cafes are grouped to Big cafes and Small cafes.

Big cafes are located in outskirts, and have a garden. So the cafes can serve over a hundred people.

But small cafes are located in the city. This kinds of cafe only can serve about 10 people.

I surely tell you the most popular item is iced americano. Most Korean like iced coffee more than hot coffee, but rarely have espresso. People usually go to a cafe when hanging out with their friends.

 

Q2) What kinds of drinks do cafes offer? Did the menus become more diverse? What is the most popular menu item?

[Ans] Cafes offer many kinds of coffees, and non-coffees. Compared to the past, they got more divers menu items.

For example, most cafes sell americano, caffe latte, ade and so on. Plus, some cafes sell milk tea.

 

Q3) Have you ever encounterd an extraordinary event at a cafe? You might have split your drink or forgot to bring your wallet. Tell me a story and how you felt then.

[Ans] About a year ago in summer, I went to a cafe to hang out with my old friend.

We ordered two cup of americano, and a piece of cheese cake. Then we chatted.

But the coffees and cake weren't served for a long time. about 30 minutes?

So I asked when I have my foods to the employee. Then he was like "Oh, I missed your order!"

I got angry, because I was really thirsty that time. But I didn't say any complaint to him.

The employee said "I'm sorry, I will give you coffees for free.".

After hearing that, My anger just melted away. So I felt that money is powerful.

 

Q4) Tell me about your favorite cafe and the reasons you like it. If you don't have a favorite cafe, please tell me the first cafe you visited and how you liked that place.

[Ans] My favorite cafe is Starbucks. It is very close to my home and it's everywhere.

I like that place because the price of coffee is reasonable, and taste is also good.

So, I prefer to have Starbucks coffee whenever I want to have a coffee.

 

Q5) How have cafes changed over the years? How were they in the past, and how are they now? Is there anything special about them today?

[Ans] I think cafes has changed over the years in Korea.

When I was high school student, It is about 15 years ago, There weren't many coffee shops. And the coffee which coffee shops sold was quite expensive. Starbucks americano was 4 dollars, and almost restaurants also sold their lunch menu for 4 dollars at that time.

But now, coffee shops are everywhere, and Starbucks americano is still 4 dollars in Korea!

But lunch price is almost 8 dollars! Considering inflation, I can have coffee for half price than 15 years ago.

To sum up, I want to tell you that coffee became popular in Korea.
