무엇을 어떻게 하게 됐는지를 누구에게 들려줄 때 자주 쓰는 표현들이다.

 

A: 너네 어떻게 만났어?

>> How did you guys(two) meet?

B: Well, we were attending a Spanish class together and the teacher would pair us up to practice. So, We naturally got to talking. And, before I knew it, we were texting each other and spending more time outside of class. And… Well, you know, one thing led to another. And the next thing I knew, we were talking about marriage.

*get to talking: 이야기를 시작하다.

*before I knew it: 상황이 빨리 바뀌었다. + 계획된 일이 아니서 어째서 그렇게 됐는지는 모른다.

*one thing led to another: (구체적인 내용은 재미가 없다는 뉘앙스) 자연스럽게 당연하게 흘러가다

*the next thing I knew: 자연스러운 일의 진행에 대해 얘기하는 것이다.
